A BRIEF HISTORY

Fall, 1995. Outside of a dormitory in Auburn, Alabama, guitarist/singer Brooks Meeks and bassist Dustan Nigro meet, share a smoke and decide to form a band.

As The Close, they cut their teeth on the town's successful DIY rock scene. Brooks takes the reigns booking Auburn's Malformity House in 1997. The house becomes popular a stop on the Southeast tour circuit and The Close gets a chance to play with The Van Pelt, Karate, Rye Coalition and many others. Some of these bands (particularly the former two) become The Close's most obvious influences.

After independently releasing two full lengths, they recruit drummer Keefe Justice and record the album 20,000+ at the Malformity House. Theresa Marie Fedor adds backing vocals and later becomes a full member, also contributing keyboards and the glasses factor.

Fall, 1999. Brooks & Dustan relocate to Atlanta and partner up with indie label Moodswing Records to release 20,000+.

The rest of the of the band soon catches up and before long The Close squirm their way into Atlanta's hearts. They perform with Clinic, Spoon, Death Cab for Cutie, shannonwright, and The Lapse. The Close maintain their DIY cred by producing all ages shows under the moniker Slimmertwin Events. Moodswing releases their split single with Red Level Eleven in January 2002. After mostly drunken and partly naked release shows in Atlanta and Auburn, the record sells out.

Fall, 2002. It's a Secret To Everybody is The Close's forthcoming release. Recorded over several months at The Close's home studio, rough mixes are now being thrown at record labels all over.
